WHY I’M RUNNING

“There are three simple reasons why I am running: Shauna, Sierra and Elana.

Our educational system faces tough times.  The School Board oversees the contract we have with Fairfax County to manage our schools.  To ensure they remain the envy of the nation, I will ask the tough questions and hold those responsible for keeping our schools strong accountable.  I will use my personal experience – as a parent; the husband and son of public school teachers; a former official in the Office of Management at the U.S. Department of Education; and as a local volunteer and activist – to preserve programs that matter to our families, maintain our high standards, and to keep our community fully informed of decisions that impact our children so that we can hear their concerns.

All City residents benefit from our strong schools.  Their reputation makes our City a desirable place to live, and we all have a stake in maintaining their high standards.  I will work with city, county, state and national officials – many of whom I have worked with for years – to keep our schools as one of our top priorities.”
